Empower to Succeed's mission is to prepare individuals to make a social and economical impact in their community by preparing them to establish long term employment in their community and/ or develop a business that creates career employment opportunities for others.

Description :

Each year, Greater Hammond Community Services sponsors a Thanksgiving Drive. Over 150 families receive Thanksgiving Baskets and over 800 individuals in the Hammond Urban Enterprise Zone benefit from the program.

Description :

The Gus Macker 3 on 3 Charity Basketball Tournament raises money for not-for-profit organizations throughout Northwest Indiana. HUEA is a sponsor for the tournament because a diverse group of men and women work together to make the tournament a success.

Description :

The Hammond Hurricanes is a basketball program that emphasizes academics through tutoring services, leadership development and athletic skills while fostering positive role models in the community.

Description :

The Hammond Jaycees sponsor an annual “Toys for Kids” campaign for the needy children of Hammond. On average, the Hammond chapter provides over 500 toys throughout the city during the holiday season.

Description :

Recipient : Hessville Vipers Football and Cheerleading
Description :

The Vipers objective is to teach children teamwork and fundamental athletic skills that they may take with them and use throughout their lives. Each and every individual involved with the organization is a volunteer and fundraiser for the organization. The HUEA partners with Vipers to provide uniforms and equipment through advertising.

   
   
Recipient : Pulaski Park Neighborhood Association
Description :

The Pulaski Park Neighborhood Association is creating a pocket park with ornamental trees, plants, flowers, benches, lighting, and a soothing water feature. The purpose of this project is to create a serene, safe place for residents of all ages to enjoy the outdoors in an urban living environment.

   
   
Recipient : Woodmar Baseball and Softball
Description :

Woodmar Baseball and Softball use the Thomas Jefferson Elementary School fields to play ball in the summer. To improve the safety and quality of the fields, landscaping renovations were necessary. The Hammond Urban Enterprise Association partnered with other community organizations to provide a sprinkler system and convert a babe ruth field into a little league field.
